Graphic: A hundred years of shark attacks

Oh dear.  This both delights and terrifies me.

brilliantbotany:

This is a Eucalyptus deglupta. The colors occur naturally, giving this species the common name Rainbow Tree. It is commonly used on tree plantations for its use as pulpwood.

Jump Into Another Dimension Of Style With JumpFromPaper’s 2-D Purses [link]

Created by Taipei-based designers Chay Su and Rika Lin, JumpFromPaper is a handbag line that features clever two-dimensional aesthetics that will suspend your disbelief. From purses to messenger bags, JumpFromPaper’s trompe-l’œil designs are bold, colorful, and heavily reminiscent of comics, cartoons, and illustrated children’s literature. Despite their “flat”/slim appearance, these bags are also fully functional; each bag boasts a substantial amount of storage to carry all of your three-dimensional essentials.

My personal favorite is the Bowling Bag (as featured in the header photo) :)

Check out the entire collection on ComicsAlliance!

These are kind of blowing my mind. I keep looking at them, and I still can’t figure out how the hell they work.

Must. have. this.

Is it wrong that I look at the masks and wonder if I could get one with prescription lenses in it?

The Black Death Plague Doctor:

A plague doctor was a special medical physician who saw those who had the Bubonic Plague. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which (according to the miasmatic theory of disease) was seen as the cause of infection. The protective suit consisted of a heavy fabric overcoat that was waxed. A wooden cane pointer was used to help examine the patient without touching.

Glitchy

Okay, seriously, why does all technology suck today?  Tumblr is glitchy as hell.  Pinterest… well, I always hate Pinterest, so never mind.  Phone is being weird.  Even the necessities (electric throw and espresso machine) are behaving strangely.  Is this like when animals freak out right before an earthquake?  Are we on the cusp of technological mayhem?

Fleece Lined Tights Make Me Really Happy

I actually braved Black Friday so I could stock up on these.  For those of us in the Pacific NW, Fred Meyer has them for under $20 and the second pair is usually half price.  Limited colors (black, grey, navy), but full of fuzzy awesomeness. If you’re over 5’ 6”, consider sizing up though.

scrapscallion:

Yeah, basically, I just wanted to share that. Thanks for listening.

While I don’t normally brand-evangelize, a couple people have asked, so: This is the pair I have. Mine are black. They wear like plain old opaque tights, and the outside is slick enough that they will work as long underwear even under tight jeans. BOOYA!
